Anthony Bontrager – Managing Partner: Anthony is a recognized veteran in the area of telecommunications, broadcasting and interactive media whose most recent position was as President and CEO of Broadstream Communications, Inc., a company he co-founded which has become the telecommunications industry’s first virtual head-end and middleware service provider for Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) delivery. During his tenure, Anthony personally negotiated the broadcast and programming industry’s first IP-based transport agreements, amassing the IPTV industry’s largest library of live linear video content. These many transactions included such companies as NBC-Universal, ABC/Disney, ESPN, Turner Network Sales, Starz/Encore, Fox Cable Networks, Showtime Networks. Additionally, Anthony conceived of and spearheaded Broadstream’s acquisition of StellarTV, LLC, whose software and interactive program guide currently form the foundation of Broadstream’s Bstream middleware platform – one of the largest and most deployed middleware systems in the industry. Anthony co-founded Broadstream after leaving Fisher Pathways, Inc., a division of regional broadcasting company Fisher Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCI), where he was General Manager. While running Fisher Pathways, Anthony oversaw programming origination and the satellite and fiber re-distribution of television and video content for companies such as ESPN, The Portland Trail Blazers, CNN and others. In addition, Anthony and his team were responsible for reorganizing Fisher Pathways and returning the company to profitability. Prior to taking the helm at Fisher Pathways, Anthony was Vice President of Market Development and Advertising Sales of Civia Media Group, Inc., a newly developed digital media and narrowcasting company also owned by Fisher Communications, Inc., where he oversaw the network deployment of interactive media terminals along with the advertising sales teams, increasing the production of both by over 200%. Immediately prior to Civia, Anthony was Vice President of Real Estate Operations for fixed broadband service provider Advanced Radio Telecom Corp. (ARTT) – since reorganized as FiberTower (NASDAQ: FTWR). While at ARTT, Anthony led the acquisition of over 800 Million square feet of telecommunications facilities in the United States, London and Scandinavia, through various transactions and partnerships with some of the world’s largest real estate owners and operators. ARTT’s broadband fixed wireless network was one of the first to trial video over IP and voice over IP in a hybrid wireless/wireline network with partners such as Cisco Systems and GE Americom. Anthony’s background in the telecommunications industry began in the early days of PCS systems deployment, where he consulted and oversaw the network deployment and site acquisition efforts for GTE Mobilnet’s CDMA network build-out on the West Coast. During his consultancy on behalf of GTE Mobilnet, Anthony secured master use agreements with companies such as Bonneville Power Administration, Shurgard Storage Centers, Seattle City Light and the State of Washington. Through his work with the State of Washington, Anthony became a co-author of Washington State’s Wireless Siting Policy directed by Washington State’s then-Governor Gary Locke. Anthony presently serves as President at Onecast, Inc. (www.1cast.com)a privately held digital media company which recently completed a funding round led by Eagle River Holdings, LLC. Eagle River is part of a group of closely held investment companies formed by Craig O. McCaw that primarily focus on strategic investments in the communications industry. The group's past investments have included AboveNet, Clearwire Corporation, ICO Global Communications, Nextel, Nextel Partners, RadioFrame Networks, and WorldWide Packets, among others. Additionally, Anthony is currently a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences as a member of both the Interactive Media Peer Group and Film Group. He aslso serves as an Advisory Board Member to SATCON, HD World and IP Media Expo. Anthony has also been a past member of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and World Teleport Association (WTA). Anthony has also been a keynote speaker and panel member at numerous trade organizations, focusing on broadband media, interactive content, IPTV software, conditional access systems, content rights and telecommunications access rights. |
